I offer a FREE 15-20 minutes phone consultation for new and potential clients.
I have offices in both midtown Sacramento (two offices) and downtown Davis. I am in Sacramento on Mondays and Wednesdays, and in Davis on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
I usually see new clients once a week for sessions that last 50-60 minutes. The initial, "intake" session is 60 minutes. For clients who cannot afford to come once a week, I will usually offer sessions every other week, and provide tools and skill development “homework” for in-between sessions. Sometimes I will offer 90 minute sessions—particularly if we are doing EMDR or hypnotherapy.
I offer short-term therapy for crisis situations, short-term solutions to problems, for pre-marital counseling and for hypnotherapy for addictions (e.g. smoking cessation). Sessions are either 60 or 90 minutes. I also offer a block of five couples therapy sessions at a reduced rate.
I charge $130 for a 50-60 minute individual session. I charge $140 for a 60 minute couples session or a family session. I do offer a sliding scale fee when needed.
Lower Fee Counseling with MFT Interns
See "Lower Fee Therapy" page for information on lower-fee counseling with the M.F.T. Interns who work at my private practice offices in Sacramento and Davis.
Group therapy is another way to save money on therapy and still have huge benefits. Consider joining one of my groups. See "Groups" page, or visit my website http://www.sacramentogrouptherapy.com for detail about group therapy benefits.
Office Days and Hours
I work Monday through Friday. I am at the Sacramento offices on Mondays and Wednesdays, and at the Davis office on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
I am not on any insurance panels, but I am happy to provide monthly invoices for clients who have insurance through a PPO plan that covers a portion of the cost of your therapy. For example, PPO plans like Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield pay a portion of the cost of therapy with me. However, I have chosen to not accept insurance reimbursement for the following reasons:
- Paying out of pocket gives you protection and control over your therapy because it denies managed care providers access to your therapy records. This ensures that your health insurance company cannot access the diagnosis or treatment information I would need to share with them, information that could potentially be used to deny you access to specific treatments or keep you from changing insurers should you lose your job.
- I am uncomfortable with managed care providers dictating how your therapy with me should proceed. The people at these companies who do this usually have no background or skill in the provision of psychotherapy. Their main objective is to keep their costs as minimal as possible. I prefer that my clients and I determine how long we will work together, how often we schedule our sessions, what we work on and how we proceed.
